T5 Facilities Management Reports Dramatic Growth for Data Center Services in 2018

T5 Data Centers’ Managed Services Group Adds 11 Data Center Customers in 8 Markets.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) had a banner year in 2018, adding 11 data centers in eight U.S. markets to their customer portfolio. T5FM, a division of T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale enterprise computing environments, also substantially expanded its staff to meet the needs of new customers, which include Fortune 500 and Fortune 50 companies.

Formed in 2014, T5FM provides mission-critical data center management and operations services, including remote hands, property and asset management, consulting, and training. T5FM was initially created to provide turnkey data centers services for T5 Data Center customers, but has been rapidly expanding to support third-party, mission-critical data center operations across the United States and Europe. T5FM ended 2018 on a high note with the addition of new customers in retail, enterprise computing, scientific computing, and mission-critical data services.

“We have seen continued growth over the past five years as leaders in various vertical markets continue to come to us looking for best-of-breed data center management services,” said Aaron Wangenheim, COO T5 Data Centers. “We continue to prove our capabilities in the way we manage T5’s data centers, which have a track record for reliability unsurpassed in the industry. We also received the Uptime Institute’s Continuous Uptime Award for uninterrupted service for T5’s data centers. That’s why respected market leaders continue to seek out T5FM for top tier support services.”

As part of its 2018 success, T5FM has expanded its team by 20 percent. In a job market where experienced IT staff is difficult to find, T5FM continues to attract top talent. Unlike other, more diversified competitors, T5FM is dedicated solely to data center operations management, so T5FM staff have an opportunity to hone their data center expertise in order to advance within the company.

“We believe we have a distinct advantage because we focus solely on managing mission-critical data centers as if they were our own,” said Wangenheim. “While other companies include general building management and other services, we are solely dedicated to data center maintenance and performance.”

T5FM continues to expand its customer portfolio. The group is already developing strategies to support T5@Ireland, the latest T5 data center, and anticipates signing more European customers in the coming year.

T5 Data Centers Poised to Meet Emerging Challenges of Mission-Critical Hyperscale & Enterprise Computing

T5 CEO Cites Record of 10 Years’ of Success and Innovation as the Foundation to Meet New Market Challenges and Continued Delivery of “Forever On” Data Services.

Atlanta, GA, USA — After a decade of delivering “forever on” data center services, T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale and enterprise computing environments, has just completed its best year in 2018. As the company moves into 2019, T5 CEO Pete Marin predicts another strong year as T5 prepares to meet the new challenges of the rapidly changing cloud computing market.

“T5 has been able to stay ahead of the continually changing data center market by combining future-proof facilities with innovation, superior expertise and customer service,” said Marin. “With a 10+ year record of success, we continue to expand our data center portfolio and provide services that anticipate our customers’ needs. We have a growing list of satisfied customers and industry accolades such as the Uptime Institute’s Continuous Uptime Award, so we have earned our reputation for reliability and delivering ‘forever on’ services.”

New demands on hybrid computing architectures are presenting new challenges to data center occupiers and colocation providers. Hybrid clouds are making up the bulk of corporate computing services, giving users access to vast public clouds while enabling them to retain control over their most sensitive applications. In addition, Edge computing is gaining ground as more companies decentralize their IT infrastructure and use regional data centers to shorten the backhaul and reduce latency for applications such as managing Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In fact, the proliferation of IoT, mobile computing, and other data traffic is putting an added strain on data centers.

At the same time, there is an ongoing shortage of qualified data center personnel. According to a study by the Uptime Institute, 45 percent of data center operators said that lack of qualified staff will limit data center growth for the next five to seven years, and 38 percent said they are having trouble finding qualified candidates to fill open IT positions.

“T5 is one of the few companies able to offer end-to-end data center solutions from construction to ongoing operations,” Marin added. “In addition to our Tier III-plus data centers, we have T5 Construction Services to help with planning and custom build-outs, and we have T5 Facilities Management to provide world-class operations expertise. We are a one-stop-shop with the staff and resources to deliver tailored hyperscale and enterprise solutions, no matter what the requirements.”

The company has plans for international expansion in 2019. T5 has already announced the addition of T5@Ireland, and the company will expand its international coverage in the months ahead.

T5 Data Centers Enters European Market with Addition of T5@Ireland Data Center Campus

New Purpose-Built Data Center in Ireland Offers Same Robust Infrastructure as T5’s U.S. Facilities Just in Time for New Data Sovereignty Laws.

ATLANTA and CORK, Ireland — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, has entered the European data center market with today’s announcement of a new joint venture with JCD Group of Cork, Ireland to develop the T5@Ireland data center campus. This is T5’s first data center outside the United States and will look to take advantage of the coming political changes in the European Union (Brexit and associated EU data sovereignty laws), and telecom and power infrastructure advantages in Cork to serve a growing need for companies seeking new data centers serving European and U.S. customers.

The new T5@Ireland campus is a 32.5-acre, 46 MW dedicated data center campus with full planning permission for two enterprise facilities of 7 MW each, and a cloud targeted facility of 32 MW. The site is carrier rich and will have direct access to Ireland’s five largest domestic fiber carriers, as well as subsea cable connectivity to the United States, United Kingdom and Europe via GTT Express (lowest latency between EU and US), GTT North & South, (secondary routes between US, UK and Europe), Aquacomm’s AEC-1 Cable (Ireland to NYC). Building I will be a 7 MW, 84,000 square foot facility and is due for completion in Q1, 2019, which will coincide with the landing of the Ireland France Subsea Cable (IFC-1), the first cable to directly link Ireland to mainland Europe. Building II will be a 97,000-square-foot, 7 MW data center, and Building III will be a 323,000-square-foot, 32 MW data center. As with all T5 facilities, each data center can be customized to accommodate any enterprise-grade or cloud computing deployment.

In addition to new EU data sovereignty laws which could drive data center traffic from the UK following Brexit, construction of T5@Ireland comes at an opportune time relative to power availability and telecom connectivity within Ireland. Dublin has historically been the preferred data hub of Ireland, but the region is experiencing a restriction on data center growth due to lack of adequate power. T5@Ireland is fed by 60 MW of power from an adjacent dual fed substation, and can deliver this power within expedited delivery deployments of new facilities. These and other market factors are driving more data center operations to strategic locations such as Cork.

“Now is the perfect time for T5 to build T5@Ireland as our springboard into Europe,” said Pete Marin, CEO & President of T5 Data Centers. “Cork is a growing technology hub with a great talent pool and robust infrastructure. We expect T5@Ireland to attract European customers seeking a new location for their enterprise operations, and for U.S. companies seeking a European data center presence. This is the next phase of T5’s global expansion strategy and shows our commitment to serve our customers wherever they need us.”

T5@Ireland Building I is a Class A data center designed to meet LEED Silver requirements. It features block-redundant 1.75 MW electrical lineups and can accommodate densities from 5 to 25 KW per rack. The Cork location also offers ideal climate conditions for indirect, free air cooling, and the building is equipped with Liebert DSE cooling for modular growth.

As with all T5 data centers, T5@Ireland will be managed by the T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) team. T5FM is responsible for T5 Data Centers’ record of 100 percent uptime, and serves as an extension to our customers’ IT staff, offering facilities operations and management, remote hands, and IT consulting services.

Momentum Continues for T5 Data Centers with Addition of S&P 500 Client in Chicago

Information Technology Company Chooses T5@Chicago To Accommodate Rapid Growth.

Elk Grove Village, IL, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, today announced another pre-lease within Phase 2 of the T5@Chicago build-out. This is the second pre-lease with an enterprise company for T5 Data Centers in Chicago. Pre-leasing is challenging in the data center industry and occurs more often with hyperscale providers than it does with the enterprise. However, T5 was able to deliver a customized solution for this client and meet an accelerated time frame for a “rack-ready” data hall.

This S&P 500 Client needed immediate access to a Tier III data center in the Chicagoland area, but more importantly, that data center had to be both customizable and meet the stringent security and administrative criteria of highly regulated companies. T5 has extensive experience building custom data center solutions for customers in financial services, telecommunications, health care, and other regulated markets across the country.

“The complexity of these projects requires a cohesive team that communicates effectively and pays close attention to detail. The level of transparency we demonstrate to our customers provides them with a level of comfort and control, as if our operations staff was simply an extension of their team,” said David Horowitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for T5 Data Centers.

As customer IT requirements continue to evolve with the adoption of cloud computing, it becomes more important for providers to offer flexible solutions that align with corporate objectives. Horowitz adds, “This was an incredibly fast transaction that incorporated several important factors including a creative growth structure and a flexible ramp schedule. While the transaction structure remains instrumental in selecting a data center provider, our customers find tremendous value in the processes and procedures our T5 Facility Management teams have in place to ensure 100 percent uptime and to deliver exceptional customer service.”

T5@Chicago is a highly secured, 208,000 square-foot, Tier III data center located in Elk Grove Village. This LEED Silver certified data center was acquired by T5 Data Centers in 2016 and has been operating since its inception through T5FM, which provides best-in-class, award-winning facilities management services. T5 is currently in Phase 2 of its T5@Chicago build-out, adding a new secure data hall with an additional 2 mW capacity.

T5@Chicago is the company’s ninth U.S. data center and meets the resilient, high-quality characteristics consistent across T5’s portfolio.

T5 Data Centers Signs New Hospital Network as First Tenant to Benefit from T5@Chicago Phase 2

Health Care Network To Consolidate Data Center Operations in Custom Build-Out at T5’s Midwest Data Center Location.

Elk Grove Village, IL, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, has signed a pre-lease with a leading hospital network as the first tenant to occupy the second phase of the company’s T5@Chicago data center build out. The new lease will occupy a significant portion of the data hall currently under construction.

The hospital network is migrating its existing data center operations to the T5@Chicago custom-built facility to take advantage of more efficient systems and to accommodate capacity demand for future growth. Several of the data centers in the Chicagoland market are not purpose built facilities and have difficulty meeting emerging enterprise computing requirements. T5 Data Centers prides itself on providing state-of-the-art, custom-built data centers with on-site systems management from T5 Facilities Management (T5FM). For T5’s new hospital network tenant, T5@Chicago offers a robust infrastructure that allows them to consolidate operations and to maximize control of their infrastructure. The T5@Chicago infrastructure will also comply with HIPAA and other stringent regulations.

“Chicago is becoming one of T5’s hottest markets,” said David Horowitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for T5 Data Centers. “We are experiencing more demand from the corporate enterprise users who are requiring highly secure, scalable purpose built data centers. We are able to provide this latest Chicago tenant a customizable build-out and a scalable approach to manage future growth. Allowing our customers to control their infrastructure and have visibility into their operations like it was their own internal data center is a major differentiator that enterprise customers appreciate. Our T5 Facilities Management team is simply an extension of our customers’ teams.”

T5 Data Centers Begins Phase 2 of T5@Chicago Build Out to Meet Growing Regional Data Center Demand

T5@Chicago Data Center Adds Server-Ready Capacity to 208,000 Square Foot Facility.

Elk Grove Village, IL, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, today announced the second phase of the build out of its T5@Chicago data center. T5@Chicago is a highly secured purpose built, 208,000 square-foot data center in Elk Grove Village. This next phase will deliver a secure data hall consisting of 2 megawatts (mW) of available data center capacity in one of the premier data center markets in the country.

The Chicagoland area continues to experience an increase in demand from local and regional companies, along with cloud providers who are trying to keep pace with the adoption of hybrid cloud solutions. With more than 150 million square feet of office space in the Chicago area, there is a growing migration by enterprise customers from on premise computing to specialized colocation/wholesale and cloud services. T5@Chicago offers customers a customized data center solution that provides secure private data halls in a concurrently maintainable and fault tolerant design.

“The demand from corporate enterprise seeking data center space in Chicago continues to grow in a market that has very limited supply. As vacancy rates hover around 5 percent, we are in a unique position to deliver a high-quality data center solution that will provide customers complete control of their infrastructure, as if it were their own mission critical environment,” said David Horowitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for T5 Data Centers. “Network and power continue to be the life blood of a data center. We originally chose this location because of the robust fiber network and resilient utility infrastructure in Elk Grove Village. Beyond the initial data center, our adjacent site can accommodate another 170,000-square-foot,16mW facility to support future growth.”

T5@Chicago is a purpose-built Tier III, LEED Silver certified data center acquired by T5 Data Centers in 2016 and has been operating since its inception through its affiliate, T5 Facilities Management (T5FM). T5FM provides best-in-class, award-winning facilities management services including remote hands to data center owners across North America. The T5FM team provides 24/7 facilities support so customers can be assured of uninterrupted service.

T5 Data Centers Opens Doors to T5@Dallas III Data Center

T5 Data Centers Completes Construction of New Concurrently Maintainable, 156,000 Square Foot, Greenfield Purpose-Built Facility with 10.75 MW Capacity.

Dallas, TX, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced the opening of a new data center, T5@Dallas III on its Plano data center campus. The new greenfield, purpose-built data center is tenant ready and offers the same robust construction as the balance of the T5@Dallas campus, including a dedicated data center support team. The T5@Dallas campus is located in Plano’s Legacy Business Park.

The T5@Dallas III facility is a LEED Silver certified, concurrently maintainable data center with 94,400 square feet of available data hall space and 10.75 megawatts of critical power. T5@Dallas III features a highly efficient chilled water plant for a low annualized PUE, and it offers both N+1 and 2N MEP configurations for guaranteed uptime. The new facility also will be maintained by its own dedicated T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) team.

The building itself is designed to withstand winds in excess of 221 mph (EF-5 tornado equivalent), and there are multiple redundant power feeds from two local substations. In addition, the T5@Dallas III facility can take advantage of the multiple carriers and fiber connections already serving the T5@Dallas data center campus.

“Dallas is our most active data center market so it only made sense to bolster our T5@Dallas campus with an additional enterprise grade facility,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers. “Our new T5@Dallas III data center is a smaller version of the adjoining T5@Dallas I data center with the same robust construction, design redundancy, and physical, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure. Dallas is a growing market for Fortune 500 companies and we want all of our tenants to be confident that when they sign with T5 Data Centers, they get a state-of-the-art facility with top-tier support.”

The original T5@Dallas facility is a 311,000 square foot/21.0 megawatt building with four isolated data centers under one roof. T5@Dallas is one of six T5 data centers nationwide to receive the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval. The M&O assessment evaluates every aspect of data center operations including planning, coordination, management, staffing and organization, training, operating conditions, and maintenance.

Mike Casey, President of T5 Facilities Management, Receives Uptime Institute® Leadership Award

Head of T5FM Recognized with Operations Pacesetter Leadership Award.

Atlanta, GA, USA — Mike Casey, President of T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) (http://www.t5datacenters.com/facilities-management), has received the Leadership Award as Operations Pacesetter from the Uptime Institute. The Award was presented at the Uptime Institute Symposium in recognition of T5FM’s role in earning the M&O Stamp of Approval across the T5 data center portfolio.

Under Mike’s leadership, all eligible T5 data centers received the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval including T5@Atlanta, T5@Charlotte II, T5@Dallas, T5@LA, and T5@Portland. T5’s Tier III certified data center, T5@Charlotte VII, will undergo Uptime’s Operational Sustainability assessment later this year.

The Uptime Institute M&O Stamp of Approval provides a means to conduct risk analysis and validates the rigor and effectiveness of a data center operations team by an industry recognized third party expert in designing, constructing, and operating data centers.

T5’s data center portfolio received some of the highest M&O scores ever awarded by Uptime. The consistent high scores are attributed to T5FM’s team and proprietary operational methodology, the Four Pillars of T5FM: Safety, Training, Process/Procedures, and Customer Communication.

“We are delighted to see Mike receive the Uptime Leadership award. The award is testament to Mike and his team’s commitment to providing outstanding customer service,” said Pete Marin, President and CEO of T5 Data Centers. “Mike has been instrumental in the success of T5FM, not only providing outstanding service to T5’s customers but to their growing list of third party data center customers. The T5FM commitment to excellence is part of T5’s DNA and is reflected in the quality of data center operations.”

T5FM operates all of the T5 data centers, as well as enterprise data centers for Fortune 500 companies in finance, aerospace, retail, and technology. T5FM provides comprehensive facilities management services for business-critical data centers, including facilities operations, property and asset management, and remote hands. T5FM also provides data center consulting services, bringing the owner/operator perspective to data center owners as well as the operational expertise that earned the Uptime Institute’s recognition.

“I am honored to be singled out by the Uptime Institute for the Leadership Award,” said Casey. “Getting such high marks for the M&O Stamp of Approval validates our operational philosophy, our attention to detail, our pride in ownership, and our quest for continual process improvement. The M&O Stamp of Approval allows T5FM to set even higher benchmarks of performance for all our customers.”

T5 Data Centers, Hillwood and IPI Partners Form Partnership to Develop T5@Alliance, a Hyperscale Data Center Campus at AllianceTexas

T5 Data Centers and Hillwood, are partnering to co-develop a data center campus within AllianceTexas, the 18,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use development in north Fort Worth. Development of the T5@Alliance data center campus is backed by IPI Data Center Partners Management, LLC (IPI Partners).

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers (T5), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable, hyperscale computing environments, and Hillwood, one of the nation’s leading real estate companies, are partnering to co-develop a data center campus within AllianceTexas, the 18,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use development in north Fort Worth. Development of the T5@Alliance data center campus is backed by IPI Data Center Partners Management, LLC (IPI Partners), which invests in data centers and other technology and connectivity-related real assets and is sponsored by ICONIQ Capital, LLC and an affiliate of Iron Point Partners, LLC.

The T5@Alliance campus is a unique scaled opportunity for the data center market. AllianceTexas has initially dedicated 350-400 acres of its infrastructure rich master plan specifically for data centers. The massive pad sites with the infrastructure necessary to ensure uninterrupted power, telecommunications, and operations, provide the foundation for T5 to construct enterprise-scale, customized data centers that meet customers’ specific requirements. At full build-out, the development is capable of delivering 400+ megawatts of dedicated critical power, which replicates the current capacity of the entire Dallas-Fort Worth marketplace.

“Cloud and hyperscale data center users are looking for locations that can offer a growth pathway, incentives, resiliency and speed to operation, all with low costs. T5@Alliance offers a perfect combination of these critical requirements,” said Pete Marin, President and CEO of T5. “This partnership with Hillwood and IPI Partners brings together a highly experienced team ready to deliver hyperscale campuses for discerning data center customers.”

“Rapid growth in Fort Worth is catching the attention of large technology companies, like Facebook, and is reinforcing AllianceTexas’ position as a premier destination for data centers,” said Mike Berry, president of Hillwood, developer of AllianceTexas. “With highly acclaimed data centers already developed in eight major markets across the United States, T5 and IPI Partners are ideal partners for expediting the evolution of AllianceTexas as a large-scale data center destination. This partnership will allow us to quickly deliver even more data center campuses to the growing number of customers who want to more efficiently serve North Texas and the broader market.”

Redundancy is one of the core reasons that data centers find AllianceTexas attractive. The development is served by two separate transmission sources, Brazos Electric Power Cooperative and Oncor, which come together at the same location to provide power independently with transmission-level redundancy. Four substations currently exist at AllianceTexas, with locations identified for multiple additional substations, which enhance redundancy opportunities for development sites. This component, combined with the fact that Texas operates on its own electrical grid, mitigates the risk that data center operations will be disrupted by power outages. The state’s deregulated electricity marketplace also makes power extremely affordable.

Multiple long-haul and domestic fiber providers are also in place throughout AllianceTexas. In addition, the development is served by water supplied by the City of Fort Worth. The water system within AllianceTexas has been constructed and was purposefully designed to provide critical redundancy, with interconnections between three transmission water mains.

“The partners share the same vision for providing customers with customized data center solutions, making this a great opportunity to leverage our capabilities and resources to support the growing demands of colocation, enterprise and hyper-scale users across the region,” said Reid Goetz, vice president of Hillwood. “The massive pad sites at T5@Alliance, which are already served with critical infrastructure, make the development a great platform on which the partners can create one of the world’s top data center destinations. Facebook and other FORTUNE 500 users have already recognized the substantial advantages of this location for massive installations. Redundancy, the presence of multiple fiber providers, access to an ample volume of water and the region’s moderate weather all help ensure reliable, uninterrupted service of data centers at AllianceTexas.”

ABOUT ALLIANCETEXAS
AllianceTexas (http://www.alliancetexas.com) is an 18,000-acre, master-planned community anchored by the world’s first industrial airport. It includes the Alliance Global Logistics Hub, Circle T Ranch and Alliance Town Center projects. T5 Data Centers Receives Uptime Institute® M&O Stamp of Approval Across Data Center Portfolio

T5@Charlotte, T5@Dallas, T5@LA, and T5@Portland Join T5@Atlanta in Being Certified for Best-in-Class Infrastructure Management and Operations.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that the company’s entire portfolio of eligible data centers has received Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval. T5 Data Centers’ T5@Atlanta facility was issued an M&O Stamp of Approval by the Uptime Institute in 2016, and this month T5@Charlotte, T5@Dallas, T5@LA, and T5@Portland also received the industry award.

The Management and Operations Stamp of Approval was created by Uptime Institute to provide an unbiased, independent assessment confirming a data center meets a set of benchmarks that promote effective data center best practices and minimize human error, which is the leading cause of data center failure. The M&O assessment evaluates all aspects of operations, including planning, coordination, and management; staffing and organization; training; operating conditions; and maintenance. Only a select number of data centers qualify for the M&O Stamp of Approval, and with additional awards issued this month, T5 Data Centers’ entire portfolio of five eligible data centers have now achieved the M&O Stamp of Approval awards from Uptime Institute for outstanding management and operations.

“We know that having a world-class staff and adhering to proven management protocols is the key to success. We are proud of our track record of continuous availability across the T5 portfolio and our partner sites (i.e. sites that T5 Facilities Management operates as a third-party service). We are delighted to have the Uptime Institute M&O Stamp of Approval to validate our team’s performance and our procedural excellence,” said Mike Casey, President of T5 Facilities Management. “Minimizing risks while reducing operating costs is a commitment T5 makes to all of its customers. The fact that we had nearly perfect scores on the M&O audits demonstrates that we have the right people and procedures in place and are operating using best practices every day.”

A 2016 study by the Ponemon Institute estimates that the cost of data center downtime now averages about $7,900 per minute. The report also determined that the average data center incident lasts 86 minutes at a cost of $690,200, and a total data center outage averages 119 minutes at a cost of $901,500. The Disaster Recovery Preparedness Council also reports that only 23 percent of organizations are adequately prepared for a data center outage. Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval provides independent assessment of data center excellence and standardization with optimal staffing, which means a reduced risk of downtime and lower operating costs.

“Achieving the M&O Stamp of Approval across the T5 Data Center portfolio illustrates the company’s commitment to operational excellence,” said Keith Klesner, Senior Vice President, North America for Uptime Institute. “Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval provides insights to help organizations manage risk and reduce operator errors to improve performance and productivity. This commitment serves to differentiate T5 Data Center in the industry as one of the leaders in operational excellence and best practices. We congratulate T5 Data Centers for receiving the M&O Stamp of Approval for all its eligible facilities.”

T5 Data Centers Adds Fortune 100 Company as Latest Tenant for T5@Atlanta Data Center Facility

T5’s Flagship Data Center Chosen for Reliability and Operational Excellence for Business-Critical Enterprise Systems in the Atlanta Market.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced the addition of the newest tenant for its T5@Atlanta facility. The unnamed Fortune 100 company selected T5@Atlanta because it was one of the only data centers to meet their exacting requirements, and because of T5’s enterprise expertise, operational excellence, and speed to operation. A deciding factor was that T5@Atlanta was one of the only data centers in the Southeast to receive the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval, which evaluates data center staffing, organization, training practices, preventive maintenance, operating conditions, and planning and management.

The new tenant was seeking an enterprise data center facility in the Atlanta market that would be able to reliably support its business-critical applications. Last year, the company experienced a costly failure that affected customers and operations nationwide. To prevent recurrence of such a failure, the company decided to migrate to a data center provider that could support its mission-critical computing requirements. T5@Atlanta proved to be the only enterprise data center in the region with the capabilities, operational procedures, and personnel to meet their specifications.

The multi-megawatt deal includes a dedicated suite in the T5@Atlanta data center as well as dedicated infrastructure and a customized build-out. The new lease includes the option to extend the lease to include use of T5’s Smart Hands and Remote Hands services, if needed.

“This latest deal validates the leadership role that T5 plays in the Atlanta market,” said Pete Marin, President and CEO of T5 Data Centers. “In all of our facilities, we custom build infrastructure that meets the unique needs of discerning enterprise customers. Our T5@Atlanta data center already hosts mission-critical enterprise facilities for financial service companies, insurance companies, manufacturers, banks, and transportation companies. The one thing all our tenants have in common is the need for a world-class enterprise data center with qualified staff and reliable operations.”

T5 Data Centers Signs County of Los Angeles as Newest Tenant for T5@LA Data Center Facility

County of Los Angeles Migrates from Its Own Data Center to T5@LA to take Advantage of Turnkey Infrastructure Support, Cost Savings, and Expandability.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Los Angeles, CA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has signed the County of Los Angeles as the newest tenant for the company’s T5@LA customizable data center. The County will be migrating its data center operations from its own facility to T5@LA to take advantage of the infrastructure support and cost savings offered by T5’s wholesale data center, as well as the potential for future expansion.

The LA County Board of Supervisors directed an assessment of options to replace the existing outdated data center with either a build, buy, or lease solution. After performing a cost analysis, the County determined that leasing a wholesale data center facility would offer greater flexibility and prove more cost effective than upgrading its current data center operation. After an extensive search, Los Angeles County selected T5@LA because of its secure environment, redundant power systems, and seismic reinforcement, as well as its strategic location. The T5@LA facility also fulfilled the County’s immediate operational needs, providing a ready-to-occupy location customizable to their needs with energy and water efficient environment control systems.

“Winning the County of Los Angeles as a customer validates T5’s market advantage – our wholesale data centers are more robust and cost-effective than maintaining your own data center facilities,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers. “This latest contract also demonstrates that our T5@LA facility is in the right location with the right capabilities for customers throughout the Los Angeles market who need mission-critical computing support.”

Like all T5 wholesale data centers, T5@LA offers a fully customizable facility that gives customers total control over MEP technology and design. Each data suite is completely autonomous, separated by slab-to-deck, fire-rated walls for secure operations. The T5@LA data center also meets HIPAA, HITECH, and PCI regulations and provides a highly secure operating environment.

The company’s T5@Portland facility also received a one-year Data Center Performance Award for flawless operation since the data center became operational in June of 2015.

The Uptime Institute Network’s Data Center Performance Awards were implemented in 1998 to recognize member companies for maintaining continuous uptime of all IT equipment in their data centers. Horowitz has managed teams for both wholesale data center providers and data center commercial property specialists in the region. In his new role with T5, Horowitz will be responsible for developing go-to-market strategies for T5@Chicago and promoting T5’s commitment to the greater Chicago market. He also will be responsible for building and managing the T5@Chicago team, managing client relationships, and negotiating agreements.

“David is the first hire for our new T5@Chicago facility and his industry background and expertise will provide a solid foundation for our Chicago team,” said Aaron Wangenheim, COO for T5 Data Centers. “There is a real need for superior data center facilities in the region and with David’s help we expect Chicago to become one of our strongest markets.”

T5@Chicago is the company’s eighth and newest data center operation; a 208,000 square-foot data center located in Elk Grove Village. T5@Chicago is already operational and partially occupied, having been recently acquired by T5. The data center went online last year and is a purpose-built facility with the same high-quality attributes as T5’s existing data center portfolio. The building features a baseline Tier III infrastructure with an N+1 electrical and mechanical topology, secure private data halls available from 540kW to 9.0MW, and the ability to easily customize operational controls in each data hall to accommodate each customer’s unique data center services requirements.

T5 Data Centers’ T5@Atlanta Receives Uptime Institute® M&O Stamp of Approval

T5@Atlanta, One of the Select Data Centers Independently Certified for Best-in-Class Infrastructure Management and Operations.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that the company’s T5@Atlanta data center has received the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval. The Stamp of Approval provides an unbiased, independent assessment that data center Management and Operations meet Uptime Institute standards.

Only a select number of colocation data centers have qualified for the Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval. The M&O assessment process evaluates data center staffing, organization, training practices; preventive maintenance, operating conditions, as well as planning, management, and coordination practices for data center resources.

“The Uptime Institute M&O Stamp of Approval provides a proven methodology of assessing operations practices, pinpointing and analyzing operational gaps, and showing an organization’s intention to differentiate themselves as a clear industry leader with a consistent path forward to excellence,” said Lee Kirby, President, Uptime Institute. “We are pleased to congratulate T5 Data Centers on their M&O Stamp of Approval in their Atlanta facility.”

A recent 2016 study by Emerson Network Power estimates that unplanned data center outages can cost organizations up to $9,000 per minute, and human error is one of the most common causes of data center downtime. The M&O Stamp of Approval reduces risk by ensuring that the best collaborative and procedural protocols are in place, and that the data center staff is highly trained. Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval provides independent assurance of data center excellence and standardization with optimal staffing, reduced risk of downtime, and efficient operations which reduces operating costs.

“The M&O Stamp of Approval provides independent validation that our T5@Atlanta data center has world-class staffing and management protocols,” said Mike Casey, President of T5 Facilities Management. “We agree with the Uptime Institute’s notion that operational and management issues are fundamental to data center operations, and that with the right people and procedures, you can minimize risk and reduce operating costs. In fact, we formed T5 Facilities Management as an independent operation because we recognize the critical value of M&O.”

Although the M&O Stamp of Approval has been specifically granted for T5@Atlanta, T5 Data Centers is planning to request Uptime Institute certification for other data centers in its portfolio.

T5 Data Centers’ T5@Atlanta and T5@LA Wholesale Data Centers PCI Certified and HIPAA Compliant

T5 Receives Attestations for Healthcare Security and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards for Both Wholesale Data Center and Colocation Operations.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that its T5@Atlanta and T5@LA data centers have been certified compliant with the latest credit card data security standards and determined to be compliant with healthcare regulatory standards. T5 has received third-party attestations for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.

Compliance extends to T5’s colocation services as well as its wholesale data center services and gives T5 a competitive advantage when bidding for healthcare and transaction-driven contracts, especially for data center customers since certification for wholesale data centers is less common. To qualify, T5 worked with independent auditors to verify that all the necessary physical and network security components were in place.

“We are seeing more RFPs from healthcare service providers, insurance companies, e-commerce companies, and financial institutions that need assurance that our facilities comply with the latest security standards,” said Frank Lyles, Chief Business Officer for T5 Data Centers. “We elected to use a third-party auditor so our customers could be confident in our standards compliance, and so we could expand security testing beyond the scope of the standards. I am pleased to say that our physical and network security procedures were tested and found to meet or exceed the rigor of the applicable standards.”

The HIPAA Security Rule is a national standard to protect patient medical records and personal health information. It requires appropriate safeguards to protect personal health information, including standards for the safe handling of patient data. The HITECH standard promotes the adoption of health information technology, including the secure electronic transmission of health information. PCI-DSS is a set of industry security standards that ensures that all companies that accept, process, store, and/or transmit credit card information, maintain a secure environment.

T5 Data Centers Announces Plans to Expand T5@Dallas Campus with Third Server Ready Data Center

New T5@Dallas-III Will Expand Plano Campus to 472,000 Square Feet of Tier III Data Center Space.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Dallas, TX, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced plans to break ground on its new T5@Dallas-III data center this summer. The announcement was made following the acquisition of the additional 9.0 acres adjacent to its T5@Dallas data center campus in Plano to accommodate the expansion.

The new building to be constructed on the T5@Dallas data center campus is going to be a 156,600-square-foot, Tier 3, concurrently maintainable facility. When added to the existing 315,000 square feet in the T5@Dallas-I facility, the T5 Dallas campus will have 472,000 square feet of wholesale data center space under roof. A further expansion of 225,000 square feet is planned on the west side of the phase I building.

T5@Dallas-III will be designed to the same exacting specifications as the existing T5@Dallas data center with customizable N+1 electrical topology and 94,000 square feet of white space, 10.75 MW of power capacity, and state-of-the-art electrical and mechanical designs. It also will be built to withstand 221 mile-per-hour winds (EF-5 equivalent tornado) and take advantage of the two dedicated substations that currently serve the existing T5@Dallas data center campus. The new T5@Dallas-III facility will have the advantage of substantial service from major telecommunications carriers already servicing T5@Dallas-I with the latest fiber-optic infrastructure.

“We see Dallas, and especially Plano, as a robust and growing area and a great place to do business,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers. “We continue to see increasing demand in the Dallas market for premier data center services from discerning companies with unique requirements. Extending our existing T5@Dallas operation allows us to service these companies and take advantage of the operational excellence of our existing campus to deliver superior capabilities at a reduced cost.”

T5 executives see Dallas as a growth market that already is the site for headquarters for a number of Fortune 500 companies, all of which is driving demand for totally customizable, state-of-the-art, wholesale data center suites. In addition to having land available for expansion, the region has reliable, affordable power, a great data infrastructure with high-speed connectivity offered by multiple service providers, as well as attractive tax incentives and a large pool of qualified technical talent. The T5@Dallas-III facility is expected to be ready for tenant occupancy in the spring of 2017.

Global Software Company First Tenant to Break Ground at T5 Data Centers’ T5@Colorado Campus

After Extensive Search, Technology Company Selects T5@Colorado for Its Resilient Infrastructure and Park Restrictions for Data Center Use Only.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Colorado Springs, CO, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has announced that a global enterprise software company has purchased 8.5 acres of the T5@Colorado campus for construction of the first of two Colorado Springs-based data centers. The company broke ground earlier this month for construction of the first of its synchronous pair of data centers. The enterprise software company chose T5@Colorado after an extensive search for a suitable location in the Central US region. The Purchaser noted that T5@Colorado data center campus is ideal because of its location, utility resiliency, and the security offered by a dedicated data center campus with restrictions on use that ensure similar uses nearby.

“Having one of the top 10 technology companies sign as the first occupant of the T5@Colorado campus is a coup for T5@Colorado and offers validation for the data center park location and infrastructure,” said Vince Colarelli, T5’s Colorado representative. “Now that they have broken ground, we can continue to develop the infrastructure that will be the foundation of future data center success for the T5@Colorado location.”

T5@Colorado is a pre-planned, pad-ready data center campus with restrictions that specify land use for data centers only. The 64-acre campus has dual, independent power feeds, expandable to deliver 100 MW of critical electrical capacity. Plans also call for the campus to accommodate up to 15 telecom providers with dual independent routing and low latency. The geographic location was chosen because it offers low risk for both natural and manmade business disruption, and because of regional zoning and economic incentives that promote construction of Tier II, Tier III, or Tier IV single and multi-tenant data centers.

T5 Data Centers Signs Sutherland Asbill & Brennan for Turnkey Colocation Services at T5@Atlanta Facility

Global Law Firm Gains Better Cost Controls with T5 Enterprise Solutions Suite.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, an international legal practice, has signed as the latest customer for T5’s Enterprise Solutions Suite at the company’s T5@Atlanta data center. By licensing colocation and enterprise services from T5 Data Centers, the law firm will be able to take advantage of T5’s “Smart-Tech” remote hands support as well as “ColoFlex” metered power services to more closely align costs with consumption.

Sutherland Asbill & Brennan is the latest law firm to sign as a T5 customer, whose secure and resilient enterprise colocation environments are well suited to host the critical data center needs of legal and financial services firms. The combination of enterprise-grade facilities, services and connectivity solutions was compelling enough for Sutherland to relocate its data center from Virginia to T5@Atlanta while positioning them for long-term growth as they provide secure data access to partners and offices around the globe. As part of its move into the T5@Atlanta colocation facility, the firm also plans to take advantage of T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) services, which provides comprehensive data center operations and management to ensure optimal uptime while managing total costs. In addition, T5’s Enterprise Solutions Suite includes a consumable infrastructure billing model with metered power and managed bandwidth, so the law firm only pays for services it actually uses.

“Our ColoFlex consumption-based billing model was a key factor in Sutherland’s decision to move its data center operations to T5@Atlanta,” said Craig McKesson, Executive Vice President of Enterprise Solutions for T5. “As companies continue to move toward hybrid cloud deployments they’re looking for a way to better align the cost models of their private environments to those of the public cloud. T5 ColoFlex offers the best of both by providing the added advantages of better data control and security, better reliability as well as cost containment while also enabling our customers to connect to their preferred public cloud environments. We’re excited to welcome Sutherland Asbill & Brennan into T5 and expect to see more law firms move away from paper archives and adopt an extensible data repository to simplify data access and strengthen regulatory compliance.”

T5 Data Centers currently offers turnkey enterprise services at its T5@Atlanta and T5@LA data centers. T5’s Enterprise Solutions provides a simplified approach to IT, offering top-tier managed networking and colocation services purpose-built to meet each customer’s unique demands.

T5 Data Centers Receives Tax Exemption for New Build-to-Suit Data Center at Kings Mountain Campus

North Carolina Competes Act HB 117 Gives New Kings Mountain Data Center Tenants Millions of Dollars in Tax Exemptions for Both Construction and Operations.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Kings Mountain, NC, USA — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has been granted tax exempt status by the state of North Carolina for its new build-to-suit project at the company’s King’s Mountain Data Center campus. The tax incentive was awarded under the recently enacted HB 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, which grants tax privileges specifically to data centers, and will provide tax exemption for both data center construction and operations.

Under the tax exemption umbrella, T5 Data Centers is exempt from paying sales or use taxes on major equipment and supporting infrastructure during construction of the new build-to-suit data center. The savings during construction are expected to be significant for T5 as well as for T5’s customers. It also means that T5 Data Centers and its new customer will be exempt from taxes related to data hall IT deployments and facility operations, which includes expenses for servers, hardware, equipment, and taxes on electricity. To qualify for the tax exemption, a cumulative anticipated investment of $75 million has to be made in the data center over five years.

“With the new data center tax incentives, North Carolina becomes an even better location for companies seeking to build a high-performance data center facility,” said Robbie Sovie, Vice President of Construction Services. “The tax savings during the construction phase are substantial, and our customers are already talking about reallocating those tax savings to assist with continued investment in the Kings Mountain data center. This new tax incentive package continues to make North Carolina one of the most cost-effective locations to build and operate a data center.”

The tax exemption savings new Kings Mountain tenants receive under HB 117 are in addition to the agreements T5 Data Centers has negotiated with the City of Kings Mountain and Cleveland County for 30-year rebates on real and personal property. The combined tax incentives make T5’s Kings Mountain campus an attractive location for data center investment.

T5 Data Centers Breaks Ground on New Build-to-Suit Data Center at Kings Mountain Campus

New Custom-Designed Data Center Contract Reaffirms T5’s Expertise in the Design and Construction of Build-to-Suit, High-Performance Data Centers.

T5 Data Centers Logo

Kings Mountain, NC, USA (January 6, 2016) — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has broken ground on a new build-to-suit data center at its Kings Mountain, North Carolina, campus. Construction of the new enterprise-grade data center follows an exhaustive national search led by Kristina Metzger, Data Center Specialist at CBRE Data Center Solutions on behalf of an unnamed Fortune 50 company.

T5 Data Centers won the competitive bid for this build-to-suit contract after meeting and exceeding the stringent specifications outlined in a comprehensive Basis of Design and RFP. “Following a highly competitive process, T5 was ultimately selected as the right solution based on their extensive expertise in build-to-suit enterprise data centers, the company’s ability to meet and exceed a rigorous set of requirements, and because T5@Kings Mountain proved to be an ideal location,” said Kristina Metzger of CBRE. Ultimately T5 Data Centers will achieve several Uptime Institute Certifications including: Tier III Certification of Design Documents, Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility, and Tier III Gold Certification of Operational Sustainability.

In addition to T5’s design and engineering team having responsibility for the facility’s construction, T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) will be responsible for on-site building operations management and systems support.

“This new contract is a real testament to the discerning customer’s recognition of T5’s expertise and excellence in building and operating true enterprise quality data center environments. We brought a solution to the table that included design and construction expertise, a proven data center location, and best-in-class facilities management capabilities,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers.

T5 has been designing and building customized data centers from the ground up for 20 years. The company recently completed a similar project for a tenant at its T5@Portland campus. T5 Data Centers maintains seven data center campuses strategically situated across the country. T5’s Kings Mountain campus has the added advantage of being located in North Carolina, since the state recently passed the North Carolina Competes Act, which includes tax incentives for data center operations, including power and equipment.
