Emblematic Artwork by Juan Luis Perez at Variations on the Same Subjects: People, Nature and Geometry Exhibition Curated by Mariavelia Savino

Special Artwork by Juan Luis Perez at Variations on the Same Subjects: People, Nature and Geometry Exhibition, curated by Mariavelia Savino, presented by Contemporary Art Projects USA.

Miami, FL, USA — An emblematic piece initiates the path throughout the exhibition “Variations on the same Subjects: People, Nature and Geometry” presented by Contemporary Art Projects USA and hosted by the ArtsPark @ Hollywood, FL. A large painting by the artist Juan Luis Perez, who was born in Cuba and lives in Miami, FL, Sombras de mi Pasado (Shadows of my Past) Illusions Series, is shown at the entrance of the space. Why? …because this artwork merges several concepts of the overall exhibition, in the intellectual, the creative and the technical ambits. As a curator, I believe that every artist is a communicator, who translates his/her own experience to the current moment in order to state his/her beliefs and messages to the present viewer, as well as to the future generations that later will contemplate the work. This particular artwork has figurative, abstract and geometric elements, creating connections with the natural, the human and the architectonical. Then, each artist is by talent and vocation an innovator, which does not mean that they would not use previous influences or inspiration by other artists. But, the important point, as it is for this artwork and for the artist in the exhibition, everyone is, and must be at the end, unique and original. Finally, any technique used has to be excellent and well managed. Well, I live now the artist to speak by his own. Juan Luis Perez says: “I consider myself away from trends. I create guided by my truest inspiration from total freedom of choice. Completely self-taught, I don’t believe in academic dogmas or market claims. I change style as if changing clothes. Art is passion, fun, great adventure. I use acrylic, oil, charcoal, graphite, resins, gesso, alcohol, and newspapers sheets, love monochromatic tones, rough or dynamic strokes, turning the spatula in my work’s biggest protagonist. I returned to my roots, expressing a traditions’ rich culture filled with energy from pure imagination. My interest revolves around human beings and their conflicts. My works are profound social portraits of a generation. I’m concerned in cultural dialogues between East and West, societies which, despite their differences, belong to the same condition: human.” – “…I use truth and fantasy bringing the viewer a sense of purpose, passion, realism as well as a timeless feel. Through abstract expressions I aim to achieve the emotional compass humanity reveals in all phases of life as a poetic evolution. With every stroke of the brush and a lyrical composition of visual effects I create a dramatic transformation of old and new …a profound connection to express the visuals of my soul.” – “I try to be unique in my own individual way, my work is a fusion of all my lived experiences and skills & techniques gathered over the years, combined to bring a personal expression of energy and a message to myself with a personal stamp that not even I can duplicate. Sometimes, I depict sceneries of natural culture with organic resources such as burlap, tree seeds, bark, raw rope, yarn to express what is available rather than what’s academic. However, from my early childhood Sandro Botticelli was the culprit of my love for visual art, and as a college student, José María Mijares, a Cuban vanguard artist of the San Alejandro School of Arts, was a personal friend and mentor in my beginnings. As I matured in my process, Antoni Tapies as well as Julian Schnabel became my greatest influences. The process of my work differs between installations, sculptures, and paintings. I can start my paintings several pieces at once and employ layers over a period of days. Sometimes I set them aside and finish months later, as they come complete in my mind and eyes. Others are finished rather fast, as I love the turnout of the accidents discovered in the process that then become as a rationalized finish. There are three key elements that separate free Caribbean and Latin American art from socially restrained Cuba and its artists: 1) A primary distinction for Cuban Art is the cultural inheritance of the Afro-Cuban culture and strong Spaniard influence; 2) The diverse level of creativity due to its social lack of resources elevates its inventiveness and passion for expression; 3) The inability to speak out in freedom promotes a more intense visual message.” To conclude, as in this exhibit every artist comes from a different place, background and experience, each artwork will communicate its own message to the public.

Contemporary Art Projects USA – Art Santa Fe – July 13-16, 2017

Contemporary Art Projects USA/Gallery announces its return to ART Santa Fe at the Prime Fair Location, Booth #205.

Santa Fe, NM, USA — Contemporary Art Projects USA/Gallery (http://www.contemporaryartprojectsusa.com) announces its return to ART Santa Fe at the Prime Fair Location, Booth #205; as the fair celebrates its seventeenth successful year this summer, July 13-16, 2017, when galleries from around the world will once again offer an outstanding overview of modern and contemporary art.

Designated as one of UNESCO’s Creative Cities, Santa Fe is a globally familiar art destination. The city claims the second largest art market in the United States and draws scores of national and international visitors. The Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money magazine recently noted: “Santa Fe is dotted with 240 art galleries, and is the home of Art Santa Fe, an international art fair that attracts buyers and tourists from around the world. The Santa Fe art scene is one of the best you will find anywhere.”

According to their Chief Curator, Mariavelia Savino, five words define this year’s Contemporary Art Projects USA booth at Art Santa Fe: Diversity, Mastership, Communication, Actuality and Uniqueness.

The fifteen artists presented are from Santa Fe itself and from other US cities, as well as from Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. From very figurative to abstract, as well as Geometric and Kinetic. Their artworks represent all media from metal or Plexiglas sculptures to photography, unique mixed media, painting and tri-dimensional collages. In our booth, we made real the term “Fusion,” which is the leading motive of this Art Fair, assembling together the meanings of fashion, technique, the world and at the same time highlighting the unique creative message of each artist, everyone so different from the other, but forming a whole to celebrate their talent: humanity, beauty, nature and life.

Austrian Contemporary Artist Chris Delias Awarded Solo Art Exhibition

The exhibit will be curated by Mariavelia Savino, Contemporary Art Projects USA’s Chief Curator, and held at West Gallery, 3800 N. W. 115 Avenue in Doral, Florida. The opening reception will take place on May 18, 2017, at 11:00 am.

Miami, FL, USA — Miami Dade College West Campus Gallery – under the umbrella of The Museum of Contemporary Art + Design, and in collaboration with Contemporary Art Projects USA – will host the first Solo Exhibition of Austrian Contemporary Artist, Chris Delias titled: #CityofLife. The exhibit will be curated by Mariavelia Savino, Contemporary Art Projects USA’s Chief Curator, and held at West Gallery, 3800 N. W. 115 Avenue in Doral, Florida. The opening reception will take place on May 18, 2017, at 11:00 am.

Two issues have developed into our society’s highlights and an important part of the fashionable industry. The first one is the digital cell-phone as a picture taking camera with the ability of allowing its users to take selfies that are then posted in Social Media pages to be seen through the same cell-phone or another, as well as in a personal computer. The second issue is branding. It will refer to the clothing of the posers, and even to the brand of their car. In addition to brands such as Chanel, Vuitton, Nike, Ferrari or Lamborghini, just to name a few, today distinguished just by a simple logo or pattern that entitles the bearer to feel a somewhat superiority, there is now the digital practice of working with symbols to reduce wording and sentences. This has created the fashion of communicating by using “emojis” or “emoticons” that have shortened our language to like or unlike, smiles, tears or hearts, just to express with one only image what we feel or think on almost anything happening in our lives. This can be at the same time a positive or negative phenomena according to the point of view from which we judge it. Certainly, it is making to communicate universal for anybody, no matter where they are or what language they speak, going beyond location and the nature of the event portrayed.

However, according to artist Chris Delias: “3D printing is revolutionizing the way we design and build things. Several Social Media concepts have tried to digitalize our daily lives and the relationships between humans, all they do is make our lives more public and predictable. But: Social Media is just the symptom! The root cause of this sickness is superficiality. The result is what I call ‘Anti-Real-Relationship’ demonstrated in the artificial connections and relationships on various social media. For me it is terrible to see how real friends, real relations and feelings become less important and more voyeuristic. Of course, these social media have revolutionized the way we communicate and made it easier to stay connected regardless of where we are at any given moment. Everything that makes our lives easier and faster has a chance to be successful, but it leaves a gap between the digital and the real. My art intends to close this gap… My art should depict emotions, humans, faces in a way that you can’t find in our digitalized society. For me the spotlight is on the beauty of humanity, it’s my first priority – emotions caused by love, music, harmony… But, not only the sunny side of the world will be represented in my art – people don’t just love one another – they hate and fight – they lose, feel intense pain, experience crushing war and destruction, all of which are part of human interaction… My work should not show the reality 1:1 – the colors, proportions and poses I use are reflective of my emotions and feelings during the painting process. It is an interactive process between my soul, the model or person and the canvas – an interactive realism. My art is a projection of the reality to my soul.” Mariavelia Savino is the Curator of the exhibition.

fusion-art-alicia-savio-invite-digital

Alicia is a Los Angeles based Contemporary Latin American artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She won her first award for drawing at the young age of seven by entering a contest for the Continental Drawing School via correspondence. She then went on to participate in the Buenos Aires Botanical Gardens Plein Air competition, at the age of 14, and forgot her brushes! In a panic, she improvised and painted with her fingers, taking the First Place Award. Throughout her lifelong career in the arts, Alicia’s work has been exhibited in Argentina, Canada and the United States.

Alicia’s work primarily focuses on depicting forms in movement through vibrant colors. A professional dancer herself, her dance career took her to the stages of the most renowned theatres of Argentina: El Nacional, Maipo, Astros, San Martin, and Cervantes. She toured throughout Latin America with the cast of “Tango Argentino” before traveling to the California where she fell in love with the scenery and warm climate.

Alicia’s work has been exhibited in universities, museums, privately owned galleries and feature films. She also created the artwork for the Los Angeles Tango Festival held at Paramount Studios in Hollywood and the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Recreation’s poster for “Tango Magic!” at the Hollywood Bowl.

Most recently, Alicia’s artistic focus has been on creating bronze dance sculptures. The delicately designed sculptures exquisitely portray both her experience and knowledge of the beautiful female form in motion. Her featured exhibition at Fusion Art, “Dancing on Air” includes both her bronze dance sculptures and her newest series of dance paintings.

Located at 4116 E. Matthew Drive, in Palm Springs’ historic Backstreet Art District, Fusion Art is one of an assortment of artist-owned galleries and working studios that feature diverse collections of original, contemporary art and photography by locally, nationally & internationally recognized artists. The Backstreet Art District is located just off Hwy 111 (behind the Mercedes Dealership and the Estate Sale).

Fusion Art promotes and connects emerging and established artists with collectors and art enthusiasts, while offering the opportunity to participate in art experiences, art related education, engage in dialogue with artists, and purchase fine works of art.

Please join us for Alicia’s opening reception on March 1st between 6-9pm. She will be in attendance to meet and discuss her art with all. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and by appointment. For additional information please contact Valerie Hoffman at 760-832-7031.

Michael is a Chicago based artist who has been creating and painting all his life. Inspired by such artists as Salvador Dali, LeRoy Neiman and Leonardo Nierman, Michael’s paintings are a vibrant swirling symphony of colors that come alive amidst a vast dark cosmos. These brilliant wisps of color are as intense and dramatic as they are dazzling.

Founded by Chris and Valerie Hoffman, the gallery was envisioned and formed out of a passion for art and the artists who create it. Fusion Art promotes and connects emerging and established artists with collectors and art enthusiasts, while offering the opportunity to participate in art experiences, art related education, engage in dialogue with artists, and purchase fine works of art.

Stephen Baumbach Photography, will also host a reception on the evening of February 11th between 6-9 p.m. Stephen recently joined us at Backstreet and his studio/gallery, directly across the hall from Fusion Art, is quickly becoming a hub for local Coachella Valley photographers to gather, network and exchange ideas.

Please join us for Michael’s artist’s reception. He will be in attendance to meet and discuss his art with all. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and by appointment. For additional information please contact Valerie Hoffman at 760-832-7031.
